Health watchdog awards Lambeth Community Health full registration.

Date: 08/04/2010

The CQC is the independent regulator of all health and social care in the country and all NHS trusts in England are now legally required to have CQC registration in order to provide care. To be registered, trusts must show they meet new essential standards of quality and safety, which the regulator will constantly monitor.

LCH's registration has been awarded without compliance conditions, to achieve this we have had to show compliance with a series of regulations, which set out what we have to do, and outcomes, which set out what people who use the services should experience. To meet the registration deadline, we set up a registration steering group to oversee the registration process. Clear action plans were developed to ensure compliance for each of the sixteen core standards of quality and safety and with the regulations/outcomes in day to day activities.

Lambeth Community Health chief operating officer Angela Dawe says:

"We're delighted to have received full CQC registration to provide health care services to the people of Lambeth.

"It's a great achievement for us in our first year as Lambeth Community Health and we take satisfaction from gaining registration but continue as well to work to improve the quality and standards of healthcare for the communities we serve."
