The Co-operative Council. What does this mean in practice?

Date: 21/09/2010

The Public Meeting jointly organised by the LINk and Lambeth Council takes place on Wednesday, September 22, 5.30pm to 8pm at the South London YMCA, Stockwell Road

Speakers Councillor Steve Reed, Leader of Lambeth COuncil and Councillor Paul McGlone, Citizen Commission Member will explain their vision of how a co-operative council will work which is set out in the draft policy proposal "The Co-operative Council: A new settlement between citizens and public service delivery". A vision which will change the way public services are delivered in the borough.

There meeting will also have a speaker talking about the "Staying Positive" Workshops, where young people teach other youngsters how to manage long-term conditions, as an example of joint working between voluntary and statutory organisations and the integration of health and social care services.

The second part of the Public Meeting, is where locals come in. We will be holding themed workshops which will give you a chance to have a say on the proposals.

Co-Chair of Lambeth LINk, Nicola Kingston said: "It is really important that local people get their voices heard at this early stage of the proposals, so come along and join the debate."
